REQUIREMENTS
Dimensions and configuration: See figure 1.
Silicon rubber: Grade 50.
Qualification: First Article Testing in accordance with MIL-DTL-5423.
Watertightness: The boot (bushing seal) shall be assembled to the test enclosure using a solid bushing
of dimensions equivalent to a bushing of an applicable switch (including the non-turn notch). The solid
bushing and bushing seal shall be assembled per figure I. The test shall be conducted in accordance
with the "Final" watertightness test of MIL-DTL-5423, except that the pressure shall be limited to 6
pounds-force per square inch gauge, external pressure only, and no operations are required. At the
conclusion of this procedure, the test enclosure shall be examined in the bushing area for evidence of
water leakage.
The following tests are not required: Restoring force, durability, sand and dust, vibration, salt spray,
endurance and lubricant.
